MEET KENNY NATT

The quintessential journeyman, sprouted from the roots of Louisiana to Indianapolis, from Alberta Canada to Albany NY, Ohio to Utah to Cleveland to Sacramento, on to INDIA and IMG Academy, Natt has played and coached with and or against some of the world's greatest Hall of Fame legends of the game of basketball. Coach Natt has spent the last 45+ years cultivating his God-given talent, knowledge, and experience gained from working in all facets of professional basketball as a player, administrator, and coach. Before the start of the 1996 NBA season, he was extended an opportunity to work under the legendary Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan with the Utah Jazz. During his 9-year coaching career with Utah, the Jazz made the playoffs eight of those nine seasons (two of which were “Back-to-Back” NBA Finals appearances against the renowned Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan and company).

In 2004-05, coach Natt departed Utah to join as a Lead Assistant Coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James, helping the Cavaliers reach the 2007 NBA Finals (LeBron’s 1st Finals Appearance). After 3 years in Cleveland, he accepted another Lead Assistant Coach position with the Sacramento Kings. During his second season with the Kings, Coach Natt took over as the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2009 season (his 1st NBA Head Coach job). Also served as international Head Coach for the Indian National Team(2011), then transitioned back to the U.S. to become Director of Basketball for IMG ACADEMY (3.5 Years) in Bradenton, FL.

Coach Natt’s extensive and diverse career began collegiately in Louisiana, where he earned a full-ride scholarship as a Division-I student-athlete to attend Northeast Louisiana University (now The University of Louisiana-Monroe), where he played and earned numerous Conference and State honors over his 4-year collegiate stint. In 1980, he was drafted into the NBA as the 30th Pick overall selection by the Indiana Pacers. Natt Spent three seasons in the NBA playing for Indiana, the Utah Jazz, and the Kansas City Kings. Over his 9 years professional career, he also played for several minor leagues, namely the NBA/CBA (Continental Basketball League…now NBA D-League teams) as well as two startup minor league teams within the WBL “6’5 & Under” World Basketball League organizations (which featured the likes of John Starks, Mario Elie, Tim Legler, Chip Engelland, Mark Wade, Eddie Hughes, and others).

After retiring as a player in 1989, he served as both a pro league Executive administrator and a Head coach between the years of 1990-94. In 1995-96, he accepted his first college coaching job, when he served as an Assistant Coach for Youngstown State University men’s basketball program in Youngstown, OH. In 2002, Natt was inducted into the NLU Hall of Fame for his college alma mater Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). During his collegiate career, he earned All-Trans America Conference honors after averaging 20.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his senior season. A four-year letterman, Natt graduated with a BA degree in business administration. He is the younger brother of Calvin Natt, former NCAA 1st Team All-American who was a 1979 NBA 1st Rd Draft Pick (#8 overall), played 11 seasons, selected as NBA ALL-STAR (1985).

— FAVORITE MANTRA — “Winners Don’t Quit and Quitters Never Win!”

— FAVORITE QUOTE — “When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it split in two, and I now know that it was not that single blow that did it…but all that had gone before.” —Jacob Riis

— FAVORITE BIBLE VERSE — Philippians 4:13 “I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me”

Kenny possesses a unique knack for coaxing the best efforts out of players. His extensive knowledge, experience, work ethic, and leadership skills will no doubt benefit him anywhere, especially where there’s a strong emphasis placed on impacting player’s personal lives, and their basketball skills development and performance levels.  He’s truly a rare breed in this line of business
